UNITED WAY AND NORTH OTTAWA COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEM PARTNER TO OFFER STUDENTS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE CAREERS IN HEALTHCARE
April 29, 2016 – On April 18 and 20, Greater Ottawa County United Way’s Students LIVE UNITED program and North Ottawa Community Health System partnered to offer a pilot program for Grand Haven High School students called “Career Exploration University.” Students were able to explore careers in healthcare and get hands on experience while working with trained medical staff at North Ottawa Community Health System (NOCHS).
Kristyn Ireland, Manager of Volunteer Services at NOCHS said, “This was such a great day to organize! I am so fortunate to work with so many awesome staff members excited about creating hands on opportunities to share with the students. Thanks to them, the students were engaged and left excited about the different healthcare careers available.”
United Way’s Director of Volunteerism Shannon LaHaie agreed, saying, “United Way's Students LIVE UNITED program felt so privileged to be a part of this leadership learning event at North Ottawa Community Health System. Seeing all of our students so excited to learn about the healthcare system here in our community was an amazing experience.”
