When you invest in Greater Ottawa County United Way--through your workplace campaign or as an individual—you join forces with thousands of residents of Ottawa County. Together, united, we invest in the building blocks of a better life for all.

Approximately 80 cents of every dollar pledged and collected goes back into the community. We can keep our expenses low because hundreds of local, dedicated volunteers work with United Way year ‘round. United Way is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who oversee our operations. Others serve in our Campaign Cabinet, on our Volunteer Center Advisory Board, Finance Committee,Community Impact Committee, and as Community Investment Volunteers.

Thriving kids.  Strong Families.  Healthy Communities. These are the three focus areas of United Way’s work in the community.

The decisions about where to invest are made by local people who serve on United Way’s Community Investment panels. In 2008, 63 programs of 39 local nonprofit health and human service agencies received United Way funds after demonstrating that their work had changed lives for the better. Their work touched one in four lives in Ottawa County.
