More Than $23K Worth of School Supplies Donated to Local Kids Through United Way's Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive

Greater Ottawa County United Way is proud to announce that 7,613 items worth $23,410 were collected and distributed during our second annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive, which took place from July 28 – August 11, 2014 throughout Ottawa County. During the week of August 25, backpacks full of school supplies were distributed to local students at the Grand Haven and Holland Salvation Army locations.

United Way would like to thank you to Fifth Third Bank for their sponsorship, public drop sites and staff collections; Loutit Library and Love, Inc. for their public and staff collections; Huntington Bank for donating 150 backpacks; and to Two Men and a Truck for their assistance with deliveries. Also, a huge round of applause goes to Shape Corporation for collecting almost $7,000 worth of school supplies.

Thanks go out to all of the companies that offered staff school supply collections at their worksites: Automatic Spring Products Corp., Educational Services Center, Flextronics, Four Pointes, Grand Transformers, Ottawa Area Intermediate School District, SAF-Holland, Inc., Shape Corporation, Talmer West Bank, Tennant Company and Woodward, Inc.

We would also like to thank The Salvation Army locations in Grand Haven and Holland for coordinating the registration and distributing backpacks to kids in need. Thank you to all of the incredible community members, organizations and volunteers who helped make this event successful!
