UNITED WAY HOSTS EVENT FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS FACING HOMELESSNESS

On Thursday, October 20 from 2:30pm to 6:30pm, Greater Ottawa County United Way will host Ottawa Connect: Linking to Opportunities and Basic Needs at the Holland Rescue Mission’s Gateway Center (661 E 24th St, Holland, MI 49423). This is a unique event that will benefit both Ottawa County service providers and the residents in our community who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness.

From 2:30-3:30pm, service providers will be able to learn about other agencies in the area and make valuable connections with one another, with a goal of increasing cross-network referrals. From 3:30pm-6:30pm, services will be available to those who are facing homelessness or a housing crisis. Some of the services that will be provided are: housing assessments, health care enrollment, dental and medical services, employment and education services, hair cuts, family portraits, and much more.

Service providers are welcome to sign up to provide services for the event at: www.OttawaUnitedWay.org/OttawaConnect2016.

Volunteers are needed to greet guests, serve food, and mingle with attendees. Sign up for volunteer opportunities here: bit.ly/OttawaConnectVolunteer.

Ottawa Connect is made possible by presenting sponsor Fifth Third Bank.
